Halloween night Max dressed as Spiderman and Will as a Power Ranger. The shoulder pads are in place "incase someone punches me in the shoulders," Will said. The night before Haloween, Dad and Max carved up some pumpkins. Dad broke new ground with the use of power tools by utilizing a 1 1/2" spade bit for the eyes of the pumkin on your right. By removing all but approximately 4mm of pumkin meat from the ball of the eye and then drilling fully at its center, he achieved a soft glow within the ball of the eye, and a sharp spot of light at the pupil. The effect is one of madness and mystery.

Two major projects were completed during Grandma and Grandpa's visit. The baseboard was finally installed on the kitchen cabinets and the driveway was finished with gravel. over the last year and a half Will and Max had managed to stash a few possessions under the cabinets; Max suggested we create a time capsule but Grandma, broom in hand, had other ideas.
Grandma and Grandpa visited for a week. Will and Max got 5 stay-home-days in a row; a real treat. Lots of jobs were lined up for the hostetetrhouse including duct and rug cleaning. Grandpa showed Will the ways of the civil engineer through the construction of Lego towers, castles and a 1:1000 scale replica of the Kinzua Dam, and Max got some lessons in spoon etiquette from Grandma. On the weekend we all headed to the pumpkin patch, found the perfect pumpkin, rode the tractor and played in the sand.

Nana visited way back at the end of September for a long weekend. the weather had been awful through september, but she brought the sun from Pittsburgh, allowing us to spend alot of time outside in the parks. Carkeek at the beach, the Sculpture Park downtown, and our local Madrona Park. Will got a new racing bike #36--it is fast. Will and Nana made cookies. Max slam dunked. We all rode the monorail.
max has discovered the spice drawer. he likes to carry the jars around, one in each hand. he digs cardamon, but the cupcake sprinkles are hard to beat (shakes like a rattle)
